Comments: God i loved this game. 1st time i got it i was 9, me and my friend were too young to understand the game then. so we got stuck a lot. so we made our own game in it, by sitting inthe dark and playing the mine levels. then when the enemys appeared we'd shit ourselfs! haha it was like an early survival horror. Anyway 3 years later i played this game again and was able to understand it better and appreciate it more. while initially the combat system of walking into the enemys seemed stupid you do get used it it, and it makes for a less frustrating game later on when you can just walk straight through the weaker enemys. none of that going into a combat screen every few seconds like in modern rpgs for a random encounter with weak enemys all the time. The music i remember from this game was one of the best on the master system too, and this game is up there with the best on the system

Comments: Atrocious in-game graphics, and a fight/control system to match. Took me a while to realize the only way to fight enemies is to run HEADFIRST into them and pray they get defeated somehow. You don't even press a button to use your weapon! How f*cked up is that for an action-RPG? Thank god I only paid $10 for this game. For some inexplicable reason, Y's has a great reputation, but its gameplay is the worst I've seen for an RPG (aside from Super Hydlide on the Genesis).

The Saturn version has better graphics and gameplay, the Windows version has INCREDIBLE graphics and gameplay and comes with a lavish artbook, the Windows Complete version has the same plus extra enhanced graphics, extra animation and a free DVD, the PCE version translated by Hudson has CD music, animation and voice acting and comes with the first TWO games as one playable adventure... ...whereas this pile of trash is slow and chippy with terrible renamed characters and laughable faux-medieval dialogue. I'd say it was better than the DOS version, but at least the DOS version only took me two hours to finish on the first shot. This torture could go on forever. Why does anyone even PLAY this trash any more, unless they're a completist loser like me that has to finish every version of Ys in existance?

Comments: My God!!!! I absolutely love this game. Way better than that crap Phantasy Star. Phantasy Star was ruined by the pseudo 3D dungeons, oh well back to this game. I sold my Master system and actually kept this game. Yes it is that good. Go find the Meka emulator and the rom and play for yourself. The battle system makes this game fun and challenging. Heh, i never tire of strategically running into the enemies. 10 ALEX KIDDS!!!!!! hands down.

Comments: The best version of the original Ys by far. The MSX version and PC versions were horrible. The smooth scrolling on the Sega Master System gave the game a much better feel. Lets not forget that the music rocks...get on napster and download some the professional recordings. Also...This game wasn'tTHAT hard. Sure it took me a couple years, but I never got sick of it. In fact I still play it today on my Master Gear converter. Still have my saved games from 10 years ago. Also...the translations were totally #$^#$ up. His name is Adol but I first knew him as Aaron. GOTTA LOVE THIS GAME!!!

Comments: I played Ys for... ever since it came out, til about 2 years ago... it took me THIS long to beat it! i'm serious! I'll tell ya right now, i've never played ANY game in my life with such a high re-play value! this game rocks, i'm glad i own the original, i wish i could get more Ys originals, and i wish i could get the Japanese Animation of it on DVD, instead of those lousy ASFs i have ='/ Ys rocked, and still does ^_^

Comments: This game is the best action adventure on the SMS. I remember hours of playing with pleasure. But the modul had a few bugs. Sometimes the save states got lost, but that was a reason to play it again. Another strange thing: one time i entered the tower and still had the "wing". So i could leave the tower after the last battle. But there's still one question: for what is the room in the mine (after you beat the bat)??????????

Comments: Man I can beat this in a day. I mean the world in Y's IS pretty small for a RPG game. Two towns and three dungeons what can you go wrong? But the tower is pretty mind boggling. But I recommend some room in any SMS collection be made for this.
